A Summary of Shopify Editions ’25 Updates

At Three Acres, I help merchants like you build, improve, and grow your Shopify stores. Every six months, Shopify releases major updates under its Editions program — and the Summer ’25 release includes 150+ updates across the platform.

I’ve reviewed all the updates and pulled out the ones that are most relevant to merchants — to help you quickly understand what’s new, why it matters, and what might be worth exploring for your store.

What’s New and Why It Matters

New Horizons Theme

  • A new free theme replacing Dawn
  • Very flexible and easy to customize, with 10 design presets.
  • Great for new stores or anyone refreshing their site.

AI-Powered Customization

  • Generate Blocks: Instantly create custom sections with AI in the theme editor.

  • Sidekick AI: Built-in assistant that can analyze your store data and generate reports, answer questions, and even create content.

Theme Editor Improvements

  • You can now copy & paste blocks between pages.

  • Easier section labeling, nested blocks, and right-click shortcuts.

  • Makes building and maintaining pages faster and more organized. Read more here.

  • Discount codes can now be entered right in the cart (without apps).

  • Flat rate shipping even when shipping from multiple locations.

Selling Internationally

  • Payouts in multiple currencies (no more unnecessary conversions).

  • Collect duties and tariffs clearly in checkout (improves trust).

  • Regional sub-markets: you can now customize experiences for regions (ex: France inside Europe).

In-Store Selling (POS)

  • Redesigned Shopify POS is faster and easier to use.

  • Mixed checkout: customers can take some items home and ship others in one checkout.

  • Refund to store credit now supported in POS.

  • Better store branding on customer displays.

Store Operations

  • You can now refund to store credit easily in the admin.

  • Pick lists (for preparing orders) can now be printed from Shopify.

  • Edit subscription orders before shipping.

  • Import data (products, customers) from other platforms more easily.

B2B Selling (if applicable)

  • You can now create Markets for B2B buyers.

  • VAT number validation built-in.

  • Min/max order limits supported.

  • Gift cards can now be sold in B2B catalogs.

The Shop App

  • Continues to grow as a loyalty & re-order channel.

  • Now supports store credit & loyalty points.

  • More personalized shopping experience for your customers.

Shopify Flow Improvements

  • Flow can now send HTTP requests and return data (more automation options).

  • Improved tools for building and troubleshooting automations.

Why This Matters

Shopify continues to push the platform to help merchants:

✅ Convert better with faster checkouts and better payment options
